March 22, 2026 (MINNEAPOLIS) –Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara announced the tragic shooting that killed a 19-year-old man and injured a juvenile boy.
At approximately 10:15 p.m. on March 21, 2026, Third Precinct officers responded to a shooting on the 2500 block of 17 Ave S. Officers arrived and located a 19-old-man with a fatal gunshot wound and a 16-year-old boy with apparent non-life-threatening wounds inside an apartment. The 16-year-old boy was transported by ambulance to Hennepin Healthcare.
Preliminary information indicates that an altercation among a group inside the apartment escalated to gunfire, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old man and injuries to a 16-year-old boy. The suspects fled prior to officers’ arrival.
Officers secured the scene and canvassed the area. Minneapolis Forensic Scientists responded to process the scene. Investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led to this violence.
