MPD Investigating Friday Evening Shooting

February 7, 2026 (MINNEAPOLIS) – Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said that MPD is investigating a Friday evening shooting that left one man dead.  

At approximately 8:25pm on February 6, 2026, Third Precinct Officers responded to a personal injury crash in the 3300 block of Chicago Ave. Officers arrived and found a vehicle had crashed into a building. Officers discovered the adult male driver of the vehicle had been struck by gunfire and immediately began performing lifesaving measures including CPR. The man was declared deceased at the scene. No one else was inside the vehicle when officers arrived. 

Investigators are following up on leads and working to determine the circumstances around the shooting.  

“My thoughts tonight are with the victim’s family,” said Chief O’Hara. “Any gun violence in the city is unacceptable. Our investigators will work tirelessly to follow all leads.” 

Minneapolis Forensic Scientists responded to process the scene. 

No arrests have been made.
