MPD Investigating After Man Killed in Thursday Night Shooting

January 9, 2026 (MINNEAPOLIS) – Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said today that police are investigating after police found a man who had been shot and killed. 

On January 8th, 2026, at approximately 9:21pm, Fourth Precinct Officers responded to a shooting in the 700 block of Queen Av N. When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Investigators are working to determine the circumstances around the shooting. The shooter fled the scene before officers arrived. 

"The loss of a life is always tragic, and my thoughts are with the victim’s family,” said Chief O’Hara. “Our investigators are working to follow leadand bring some sense of justice for the victim and his family.” 

Minneapolis Forensic Scientists responded to process the scene. 

No arrests have been made. 

The GO# for the shooting is 26-006850.
