Following the runaway success of last year’s inaugural event, Mayor Jacob Frey has proclaimed October 5 to October 11, 2025, the second annual “Latino Business Week” in the City of Minneapolis. This week of events centers Minneapolis’ Latino-owned businesses and entrepreneurs through business connections and resources, networking opportunities, educational workshops with tangible takeaways, expert panels, and cultural arts and performances.
Kicking off the week, Mayor Frey joined Council President Payne, Council Member Chavez, and community partners at the Midtown Global Market this morning for the Éxito Empresarial: 2025 NDC Latino Business Week Summit. The summit will include a Latino business owners panel, free headshots, a food demonstration, a resource fair, and more.
“Latino Business Week shines a spotlight on the energy, talent, and innovation that Latino entrepreneurs bring to Minneapolis,” said Mayor Jacob Frey. “These businesses and entrepreneurs aren’t just contributing to our local economy — they’re creating jobs, building community, and shaping the character of our city. Their success is Minneapolis’ success, and we can’t wait to celebrate with them all week long.”
Latino Business Week coincides with National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15), which honors the histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans.
This week is just one of the many ways the City of Minneapolis invests in economic equity. In his 2025 budget, Mayor Frey allocated millions toward economic inclusion and recovery, including:
- $1 million to the Ownership and Opportunity Fund, supporting local BIPOC small business ownership.
- Dedicated funding for Black Business Week and Latino Business Week in Minneapolis.
- $1 million in Great Streets Gap-Financing loans for several non-profit capital projects.
- An additional $1.3 million to expand the Vibrant Storefronts to Uptown and Downtown.
- Nearly $1.3 million in future planning and development in George Floyd Square, including art preservation and community engagement.
- Continued support for implementing the Downtown Revitalization Action Plan and recommendations from the mayor’s Vibrant Downtown Storefronts Workgroup.
