Minneapolis Police Arrest Three After Evening Carjacking

October 1, 2025 (MINNEAPOLIS) – Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara announced that three men are in custody after an early evening carjacking yesterday.

On September 30th, at approximately 4:09 p.m., officers were called to the 10 block of 18th St E for a carjacking. The victim told officers that they were approached by three males who demanded car keys. When the victim refused, two of the men pulled out handguns and demanded car keys again. The victim gave them the car keys and they drove away in the victim’s vehicle.

At approximately 4:28 p.m., less than twenty minutes later, officers responded to a suspicious vehicle on the 2300 block of Snelling Ave. The 911 caller reported that two vehicles were driving recklessly and had followed their vehicle into a secure underground parking garage. While officers were enroute, they learned that one of the vehicles was the vehicle that had recently been carjacked in the previous incident.

Officers located the carjacked vehicle with a second involved vehicle in the underground parking garage and arrested three men without incident. Officers located two firearms inside one of the vehicles.

“I am grateful for the quick actions taken by our Minneapolis police officers to safely brought these armed carjackers to justice,” said Chief O’Hara. “This is just the latest example of the work our officers do every day, and we will continue to work tirelessly to hold individuals accountable who seek to commit violence.”

All three men were booked into Hennepin County Jail.

MPD Forensic Scientists processed the scene and collected evidence.

In Minneapolis, carjackings are down 33% year-to-date and 51% down from the three-year average.
