September 27, 2025 (MINNEAPOLIS) – Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara announced today that two men were shot and killed and a third man was arrested Saturday afternoon.
At approximately 1:51 p.m., First Precinct officers responded to a call for a fight inside the lobby of 15 E Grant St. The call was upgraded to a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a man in the first-floor lobby and a second man in the second-floor hallway, both with fatal gunshot wounds.
The first responding officer encountered the suspect and arrested him without incident.
Preliminary information indicates there was an argument between them that escalated to gunfire. All three of the males were residents of the building and known to each other.
A shotgun and shotgun shells were recovered from the scene.
“While today’s event is not random, it is yet another painful reminder on how quickly arguments can turn deadly when guns are involved,” said Chief O’Hara. “We know how frightening it is for residents who heard the fight and heard gunshots inside their building. This is an active investigation and our homicide investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led to this tragedy.”
MPD Forensic Scientists processed the scene and collected evidence.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the names of the deceased along with the official cause and manner of death.
