A Man Has Died Days After a Mass Shooting at E Lake St and Stevens Avenue.

September 20, 2025 (MINNEAPOLIS) – Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara announced that one of the men shot on September 15th has died.

MPD was informed that Adam John Peterson, age 46, died at the hospital on September 20, 2025.

On September 15, 2025, at approximately 11:10 a.m., officers responded to the multiple reports of shots fired near E Lake Street and Stevens Avenue South. 

Officers located 5 men – All adults- with apparent gunshot wounds.   

One man with life-threatening injuries was located on the walkway leading down to the Greenway.   

2 with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds were located inside the transit center. 

1 man with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds was located near Lake Steet and Stevens Avenue. 

The man with life threatening gunshot wounds and one with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds were transported to Hennepin Healthcare.

The other two men with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds were transported to North Memorial Medical Center.

Officers located a fifth man near Lake Steet and 1st Ave with minor injuries.  He was evaluated by EMS on the scene and was not transported to the hospital.

Investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led up to the shooting. 

Preliminary information indicates that shots were fired near the greenway and additional shots were fired on the walkway near the highway offramp that leads to Lake St and Stevens Avenue.

There have been no arrests.
