September 2, 2025 (MINNEAPOLIS) – Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara announced today that a man was shot and killed at a transit hub
Just after 12:30 p.m., Third Precinct officers responded to 911 calls of shots fired in the area and reports of and a man down inside the Chicago and Lake Transit Center. Officers identified a 32-year-old man with gunshot wounds who was deceased.
Preliminary information indicates that this began as an alteration between two men inside the bus shelter that escalated to gunfire. The shooter left on foot and traveled north on Chicago Avenue.
MPD investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led to the man’s death.
MPD Forensic Scientists processed the scene and collected evidence.
“As another life has been lost to senseless violence, our hearts go out to this man’s family and to everyone who is grieving”, said Chief O’Hara. “We recognize that this shooting comes after a number of violent incidents that have shaken our city. Every incident compounds the pain and anxiety that people in our community are feeling. We hear and we share the community’s frustration and grief, and we are committed to doing everything we possibly can to make Minneapolis safer for everyone.”
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased man along with the official cause and manner of death.
