Reverend Emily Goldthwaite, Director of Congregational Organizing at Beacon Interfaith, and I at the grand opening ceremony of Emerson Village.
I am speaking at the Emerson Village Grand Opening ceremony alongside local, state, and federal elected officials.
I was honored to local leaders to commemorate the grand opening of Emerson Village. Located at 1808 Emerson Avenue North, this vibrant new development is a powerful symbol of what community persistence, advocacy, and creative collaboration can achieve.
More than a decade in the making, Emerson Village now provides stable housing for families who have experienced homelessness—offering not only a safe place to live but a space to thrive. With input from local artists, youth, and Northside residents, the building features a striking community-designed mural, warm welcoming spaces, and on-site services supporting families’ healing and growth.
Congratulations to Beacon Interfaith Housing Cooperative, Project for Pride in Living (PPL), Juxtaposition Arts, and the many community members who stood firm in the belief that everyone deserves a home. Shoutout to our city staff, Director Erik Hansen, Elfric Porte, Amy Geisler, and Tiffany Glasper, who worked diligently to ensure the success of this project. We celebrate this beautiful vision realized and the continued hope it brings to North Minneapolis.
