 Dear neighbor,
I am devastated to hear about the assassinations of Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark early this morning. This was a targeted attack and violence by an individual impersonating law enforcement. State Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette were also shot multiple times and are alive. No one should ever have to experience this.
This is an active scene and an ongoing investigation. State Patrol and other partner agencies are looking for the individual. I’m asking everyone to be safe today please.
My heart is with the victims, their families, and community members impacted by this. Political violence is abhorrent.
