June 13, 2025 (Minneapolis): Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara announced today that Operation Safe Summer IV was another successful effort in an ongoing focus on reducing violent crime in Minneapolis.
O’Hara said law enforcement confiscated 25 firearms and made 92 arrests during the weeklong operation that occurred from June 2nd through June 7th. O’Hara also said over 90 grams of narcotics, and $20,000 were seized during the operation.
Operation Safe Summer consists of focused enforcement details within the city of Minneapolis involving multiple law enforcement and prosecution partners. The operation continues to be effective at targeting violent individuals who negatively and disproportionately affect Minneapolis neighborhoods, said O’Hara.
“Every illegal gun taken off the street is a potential life saved. After four years, Operation Safe Summer continues to deliver real results that make our community safer. I’m incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication shown by all the men and women—sworn and professional staff—who came together to make this initiative a success. “
O’Hara said the success of the operation each of the past four summers would not have been possible without our law enforcement and prosecution partners including the ATF, FBI, HSI, US Attorney’s Office, BCA, MN State Patrol, Hennepin County Probation, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, Plymouth PD, Metro Transit PD, and the Minneapolis Park PD.
