2025 schedule announced for DTAP Intro to Real Estate Development training

Apply now open for August and October sessions

The City of Minneapolis department of Community Planning and Economic Development supports emerging real estate developers through the Developers Technical Assistance Program (DTAP).

DTAP’s free Intro to Real Estate Development is a popular class. There is limited seating, and spots always fill up fast. 

Keep reading to learn how to sign up for the training.

Step 1 – Attend an info workshop

To be eligible for DTAP’s Intro to Real Estate Development training, you must first sign up for the Is Real Estate Right for You workshop. Participants will learn more about the training program and application process. There are two opportunities to take this informational workshop:

  • Wednesday, Jul. 23, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. (in person)
  • Wednesday, Sept. 17, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. (in person)

Step 2 – Submit your application

DTAP’s 2025 Intro to Real Estate Development training schedule is available. Applications are now open for sessions in August and October 2025.

Submit your application online. 

Remember, to be considered for Intro to Real Estate Development, you must first attend the Is Real Estate Right for You workshop (see Step 1, above). 


August training schedule

  • Saturday, Aug. 16, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. (in person) 
  • Saturday, Aug. 23, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. (in person) 
  • Tuesday, Aug. 26, noon – 1:30 p.m. (virtual) 
  • Thursday, Aug. 28, noon – 1:30 p.m. (virtual) 

Applications for the August session are due July 31, 11:59 p.m.


October training schedule

  • Saturday, Oct. 11, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. (in person) 
  • Sunday, Oct. 12, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. (in person) 
  • Thursday, Oct. 16, noon – 1:30 p.m. (virtual) 
  • Tuesday, Oct. 21, noon – 1:30 p.m. (virtual) 

Applications for the October sessions are due Sept. 24, 11:59 p.m.
