May 13, 2025 (MINNEAPOLIS) – Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara announced that a young man has died following a shooting early this morning.
At approximately 2:20 a.m., 5th Precinct officers responded to reports of shots fired on the 2700 block of Pillsbury Avenue South. Upon arrival, officers found a man in his late teens with a life-threatening gunshot wound lying next to a vehicle. Officers immediately administered lifesaving aid until EMS arrived. Unfortunately, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary information indicates that the young man was driving when he was struck by gunfire, causing his vehicle to crash into an unoccupied parked car. A female passenger was not injured. Early reports suggest an altercation occurred prior to the shooting.
Officers secured the scene, canvassed the area, and collected evidence with the assistance of Minneapolis Police Forensic Scientists. No arrests have been made at this time.
“The tragic loss of this young man is alarming,” said Chief O’Hara. “His family and loved ones deserve answers, and he deserves justice. I encourage anyone with information to come forward.”
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the identity of the deceased and the cause and manner of death.
