France Ave Between Market and W 49th Sts to Close April 9-12

Dear Neighbor,

Tomorrow, April 9, France Avenue between Market and W 49th Sts will completely close starting at 7 a.m. This closure is expected to last until the  afternoon of Saturday, April 12, hopefully sooner pending weather and wind conditions. The sidewalk on the west side of France Ave will remain open. This closure is necessary for the erection of a tower crane at the private development project at 4901 France Ave S.

I recognize that this area of the 13th Ward is experiencing a lot of road construction and detours right now with the Met Council E Line work at W 44th St & Abbott Ave S and the City of Minneapolis sewer repair work at W 54th St & Xerxes Ave S. We know this will make a third detour in the area and encourage you to pay close attention to the signs to follow the correct detour to get you where you are going. Below is the detour map. The southbound France Ave detour (red dashed line) is on W 44th St, Xerxes Ave S, and W 50th St. The northbound France Ave detour (blue dashed line) is on W 50th St, Xerxes Ave S, and W 39th St.

I remain in close contact with the managers of all of these projects and am advocating for clear signage and the least amount of disruption as possible.
