March 25, 2025 (MINNEAPOLIS) Chief Brian O’Hara said today that the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) is actively investigating two robbery sprees that occurred in South, Southeast, and Northeast Minneapolis over a two-day period. In total, at least 13 robberies and one auto theft have been reported.
The first spree involved five armed robberies that occurred early Sunday morning, March 23rd. The second spree began Monday evening, March 24th and included eight robberies including a carjacking, starting with the theft of a black Kia Sportage around 5:45 p.m.
Investigators have identified similarities in suspect descriptions across both patterns and are working to determine whether the same individuals were involved.
“These robbery sprees, committed by a group of suspects, are deeply frustrating and create fear across our communities,” said Chief O’Hara. “There is a strong sense of urgency within the MPD to disrupt this behavior and apprehend those responsible. We are following strong leads and believe these incidents involve juveniles already known to the MPD. Once in custody, it’s imperative the entire criminal justice system take the necessary steps to stop these violent crimes and hold those responsible accountable.”
The MPD urges anyone with video footage or other evidence related to these incidents to contact the department. Email or leave a voicemail on the MPD Tip Line, and a link will be provided to upload video evidence.
