Minneapolis Police Investigating a Shooting that Killed One and Injured Another

February 7, 2025 (MINNEAPOLIS) Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said today that the Minneapolis Police Department is actively investigating a double shooting that killed a man and injured a woman. 

On February 7, 2025, at approximately 1:45 a.m., officers from the 4th Precinct responded to a shooting on the 2500 block of 26th Ave N. Inside a residence, they found a man in his 20s with life-threatening gunshot wounds and a woman in her 20s with apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Despite officers’ immediate lifesaving efforts, the man died at the scene. The woman was transported to Hennepin Healthcare Hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the shots were fired from outside the residence, striking both victims inside.

Officers secured the scene and canvassed the area. MPD Forensic Scientists processed the scene and collected evidence. Investigators are now working determine the sequence of events that led up to the shooting.

At this time, no arrests have been made.

Chief O'Hara said there is currently no indication that this shooting is connected to the homicide that occurred hours earlier on the 2400 block of 18th Av S.

"This is the second homicide in less than four hours, and it also appears to be targeted," said O'Hara. "We cannot stand by and let this continue. Anyone with information should come forward and assist our investigators. We need the community's support to solve this horrific shooting."
