January 21, 2025 (MINNEAPOLIS) The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating two fatal shootings that occurred within 15 minutes of each other on Monday night. Chief Brian O’Hara said two men were shot to death in separate incidents. The chief expressed his deep concern over the violence and said the department is committed to finding those responsible for the crimes and holding them accountable for their violent actions.
While there is no current confirmation of a connection between the two shootings, investigators are working to determine if they are related, Chief O’Hara said.
No arrests have been made.
“Our officers and investigators are doing everything they can to determine the circumstances that led up to these fatal shootings,” Chief O’Hara said. “I am grateful for the officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel who work tirelessly, even when the weather poses a danger to them.”

First Shooting: At approximately 9 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025, officers from the 3rd Precinct responded to reports of shots fired and a person down on the 3400 block of 3rd Avenue South. Upon arrival, officers located a man in his 20s suffering from at least one life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers provided immediate medical aid before the injured man was transported to Hennepin Healthcare, where he succumbed to his injuries. A nearby home, occupied at the time, sustained damage from gunfire. Officers secured the scene and began canvassing the area for evidence and witnesses. GO# 25-016596

Second Shooting: Around 9:10 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025, 5th Precinct officers were dispatched to an alley on the 3100 block of Harriet Avenue following reports of a body being dumped from a vehicle. Officers found a man in his 30s with multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds. They rendered medical aid before the injured man was transported to Hennepin Healthcare, where he also died from his injuries. GO# 25-016606
