November 28, 2024 (MINNEAPOLIS) Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said a 21-year-old man died after being shot inside an apartment on Thanksgiving.
O’Hara said that at approximately 6:05 PM on November 28, Fourth Precinct Officers responded to an apartment on the 700 block of Emerson Av N to reports of a shooting. Officers arrived and located a man with life-threatening injuries. He was transported by EMS to Hennepin Healthcare Hospital where he died.
Preliminary information indicates the man was inside an apartment when a shot was fired, striking him. The person who fired the shot fled the scene before officers arrived.
“On a day that is supposed to be a celebration, another family has been impacted by a senseless act of violence,” O’Hara said. “My thoughts today are with the victim and his family. Our investigators are focused on seeking justice for the victim and are asking anyone who knows what happened or has any information about this incident to contact us immediately.”
Officers secured the scene and canvassed the area.
Minneapolis Forensic Scientists responded to process the scene.
Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the name of the deceased along with the cause and manner of death.
