MPD Investigating Deadly Midday Shooting at Gas Station

November 26, 2024 (MINNEAPOLIS) Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said a 23-year-old man died after being shot outside of a gas station just before noon on Monday.

O’Hara said that at approximately 11:47 AM on November 25, Fourth Precinct Officers responded to the 1800 block of Lowry Ave N to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located a man with life-threatening gunshot wounds. The man was transported to North Memorial Medical Center, where, despite all lifesaving efforts, he died.

Preliminary information indicates the man was outside when he was approached by another man. Words were exchanged and the second man pulled out a firearm. After firing shots, he ran from the scene.

“This senseless act of gun violence in broad daylight is unacceptable and shocking,” O’Hara said. “I have full confidence in our investigators to solve this case and find some sense of justice for this victim and his loved ones.  We need anyone who knows what happened or has any information about this incident to contact us immediately.”

Officers secured the scene and canvassed the area.

Minneapolis Forensic Scientists responded to process the scene.

Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the name of the deceased along with the cause and manner of death.

The GO# for this incident is 24-338064.
