October 21, 2024 (MINNEAPOLIS) Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said investigators are working to locate the driver in a single vehicle crash that killed one person and injured another.
At approximately 3:52 a.m. on October 18, 2024, Fourth Precinct Officers responded to reports of a single vehicle crash in the 3200 block of Girard Av N. Officers arrived and found a white Ford Taurus flipped over. They saw a man lying on the ground near the vehicle with apparent life-threatening injuries. Officers provided immediate medical aid until EMS arrived. The man died at the scene. A second man was transported by EMS to an area hospital with apparent non-life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary information indicates that the Ford was travelling west on Lowry Av N and struck an unoccupied park vehicle causing it to flip over. The driver fled from the scene before officers arrived. Information gathered by Investigators indicates that both the deceased and injured men were passengers in the Ford.
Officers secured the scene and canvassed the area.
The Minneapolis Police Traffic Unit responded to the scene for reconstruction.
Minneapolis Forensic Scientists responded to process the scene.
Investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led up to the crash.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the name of the deceased along with the cause and manner of death.
There have been no arrests.
