September 25, 2024 (MINNEAPOLIS) Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara announced Wednesday that the dedicated work of MPD homicide investigators has resulted in a man being charged with murder for killing a mother while she held her child.

Officers and investigators immediately began focused efforts to determine who was responsible. This included immediately utilizing interpreters to gather vital information from witnesses in the area.
Investigators continued to gather evidence and follow leads for the next four months. On Wednesday, September 25th, Ayale Abdullahi Ali was formally charged with Murder – 2nd Degree – With Intent-Not Premeditated. AYALE ALI COMPLAINT.pdf

The death of a mother who was holding her child when both were shot is especially troubling and this senseless crime impacted the family, the community, the responding officers, and the investigators. I am proud of the expertise utilized by investigators that will help hold this individual accountable for his heartless acts.”
