Minneapolis Police arrested a man after a shooting at a family gathering

September 12, 2024 (MINNEAPOLIS) Minneapolis Police arrested a 57-year-old for shooting an adult man during a gathering of family and friends. 

Fifth Precinct Officers responded to a shooting at a residence on the 3200 block of Blaisdell Av just before 5:40 p.m. on September 11^th, 2024.  They identified an adult man with an apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound.   That man was transported to Hennepin Healthcare Hospital.

 At approximately 7:30 p.m., officers located and arrested the suspect at 2413 10^th Ave S.  He had been with his girlfriend at the family gathering.  Preliminary information indicates that a verbal argument escalated to gunfire.  The suspect was booked into the Hennepin County Jail for 2^nd Degree Assault. 

 “This is just another frustrating example of people settling their disputes with guns, “said Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara.   “Instead of de-escalating and walking away, this individual apparently resorted to gun violence and now several lives are negatively impacted for years to come.  It is so unnecessary.”
