July 15, 2024 (Minneapolis): Chief Brian O’Hara said that on July 8th, 2024 at approximately 1130 pm, Officers from the 4th Precinct responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 2000 block of Emerson Av N. While enroute, the call was upgraded to a shooting. Officers arrived and located a 29-year-old male with an apparent life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers provided medical aid until EMS arrived. The male was then transported to North Memorial Medical Center by EMS.
On July 12, MPD was notified that the male died from his injuries at the hospital.
Preliminary information indicates the male was standing in the alley when shots were fired, striking the male.
Officers secured the scene and canvased the area.
Forensic scientists from the Minneapolis Police Forensic Division responded to process the scene and collect evidence.
Minneapolis investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led to the shooting.
There have been no arrests.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the deceased male’s name and the cause and manner of death.
