MPD assisting BCA with investigation into suspicious death.

June 24, 2024 (Minneapolis): Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara says that MPD is assisting the BCA with an investigation into a suspicious death that was discovered by Olmsted County Deputies on June 22nd.

Olmsted County said that they responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 near the Highway 42 exit in Olmsted County on June 22nd at 7am. The driver of the vehicle was on scene when deputies arrived. As deputies were checking for other occupants of the vehicle, they located a deceased individual in the backseat of the vehicle with traumatic injuries not consistent with a motor vehicle crash. The driver was arrested by Olmsted County and remains in custody.

MPD was notified of the incident when the BCA requested officers do a welfare check at the deceased’s address in the 700 block of 16th St E at approximately 2:30pm. At approximately 8pm, the BCA, Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, and Minneapolis Police investigators executed a search warrant at the address. A scene indicating violence was located inside of the address.

The victim’s identity will be released at a later date.

MPD Forensic Scientists responded to process the scene.

MPD is assisting the BCA with investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
