The city of Minneapolis is completing a project to repair the pavement and make safety improvements on 2nd Street S., from 2nd Avenue S. to 13th Avenue S in the Mill District area. The project also includes short segments of 1st Street S and 13th Avenue S. The project includes new accessible pedestrian ramps at corners, pavement repairs, and safety improvements throughout the corridor.
- The project is now substantially complete and is open to traffic.
- The final steps in the project are to install durable pavement markings (i.e., crosswalks and bike lane markings) and to complete final crack sealing.
- Final crack sealing is scheduled for May 31st and is anticipated to last one day. During this time, the bikeway will be closed.
- Crews will install durable pavement markings over a three-week period, beginning the week of June 3rd. This will require temporary closures of the bikeway for short segments and short-term closures of crosswalks while work is completed. Closures at any one location will be less than one day.
- The project team would like to thank you for your patience as we completed this work. Please continue to contact project staff with your questions and concerns.
