A man dies at the hospital after a gun is discharged

January 16, 2024 (Minneapolis): On January 15, at approximately 3:45 p.m., officers from the 2nd Precinct responded to reports of a shooting at 1650 New Brighton Blvd.   Officers identified a 19-year-old man with a potentially life-threatening gunshot wound lying in a parking lot.  Officers provided immediate medical care until the man was transported to HCMC.  Despite all lifesaving efforts, the man died at the hospital.  

Preliminary information indicates that a gun was discharged during a physical altercation.  Barqadle Abdullahi Barqadle, born on 4/10/2003, was involved and remained on the scene.  He was interviewed and then booked into the Hennepin County Jail for Murder.

Officers secured the scene and canvassed the area. Forensic scientists from the Minneapolis Police Forensic Division responded to process the scene and collect evidence.

MPD Homicide detectives responded.

The GO number is 24-012318.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the deceased male’s name along with the cause and manner of his death.
