December 23, 2023 (Minneapolis): At approximately 7:38 on Saturday evening, Minneapolis Police Department officers from the 3rd Precinct responded to reports of a shooting on the 2200 block of E Lake St. At the scene, officers found an unidentified male suffering from an apparent life-threatening gunshot wound. First responders preformed life-saving measures, but despite all efforts, the male did not survive his injuries. A 29-year-old female also suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. She was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. A nearby apartment building was hit with gunfire as well.
Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota State Patrol and Metro Transit Police assisted in securing the scene. The State Patrol canvassed the area with a helicopter. There have been no arrests.

The Minneapolis Police Forensic Division responded to process the scene and collect evidence. Homicide detectives responded to begin an investigation.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the victim’s name along with the cause and nature of the death.
