At least two dead in three-vehicle crash.

December 7, 2023 (Minneapolis): At approximately 5:45 p.m., 3rd-Precinct officers from the Minneapolis Police Department responded to reports of a three-vehicle crash at E 26th St. and Hiawatha Ave.

According to preliminary reports, a Mercedes was traveling southbound on Hiawatha Ave. at a high rate of speed when it crossed the median and hit a Ford Mustang and another vehicle of an unknown make and model. The drivers of the Mercedes and the Mustang sustained potentially life-threatening injuries. They were both transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by emergency medical services.

The driver and passenger of the third vehicle were also transported to HCMC by EMS. They were both pronounced dead at the hospital.

Preliminary information indicates the driver of the Mercedes may have suffered medical complications before the crash.

MPD is investigating, and the Minnesota State Patrol responded to assist with crash reconstruction. Forensic scientists from the Minneapolis Police Forensic Division responded to process the scene and collect evidence.

There have been no arrests.
