Creative Response Fund Grantee Spotlight: HeART and Music

Briauna William’s free creative HeART and Music workshops focus on healing for youth and adults through storytelling, fellowship and creativity in her North Minneapolis neighborhood.
In celebration of the second annual Black Business Week (July 25-July 31), sponsored by the City of Minneapolis, the Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy spotlights Briauna Williams, a 2022 Creative Response Fund recipient. Williams, an inspiring entrepreneur shares her insights on the intersection between music, art, and business.
Rajine Williams, an independent writer, interviewed Briauna Williams about her creative business and plans for HeART and Music working in the neighborhood where she grew up.

Business Support Funds for Creatives: Application Clinic July 26, Applications due August 1st
The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy invites Minneapolis based small creative businesses, and arts and cultural nonprofit organizations to apply for Business Support Funds for Creatives.
There is still time to apply for Creative Apprenticeships and Artist Driven Marketing grant opportunities and time attend an in-person application clinic on July 26th. Details below.
Applications are open for:
1) Creative Apprenticeship grants. Available to creative businesses and entrepreneurs, and arts and cultural nonprofit organizations for capacity building, job creation and employment. Funding amount: $18,000 Applications opened July 1 are are due on August 1, 2022
2) Artist Driven Marketing grants. Available to arts and cultural nonprofit organizations to design a marketing plan and implement initial elements of the plan. Funding amount: $8,000 Applications opened July 1 are are due on August 1, 2022

Business Support Funds for Creative Workspaces: Save the Date, New Funding Opportunity

The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy invites Minneapolis based small creative businesses, and arts and cultural nonprofit organizations to apply for business support for creatives – Capacity Building for Creative Spaces.
Creative Workspace - This is an opportunity for small creative businesses, and arts and cultural nonprofit organizations (“creative enterprises”) to be part of a learning cohort designed to build capacity to navigate the real estate process, plan for space, and kick start their plan. In addition to the learning and coaching, selected creative enterprises will each receive funding.
Direct funding amount: $5,000 Value of services: $75,000 Applications open: August 2, and due on September 6, 2022 at 11:59 pm. Program start date: November 16th, 2022 Program end date: October 25, 2023
Rauschenberg Dancer Emergency Grants: Cycle 4 Rauschenberg Medical Emergency Grants: Cycle 14
The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) has partnered with the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation to administer another year of emergency grants for artists.
Rauschenberg Dancer Emergency Grants are open for Cycle 4. This program provides one-time grants of up to $5,000 to professional dancers in need, who have a dire financial emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences. The aim is to allow dancers to move forward and gain stability by providing up to three months of essential expenses.

Rauschenberg Medical Emergency Grants are open for Cycle 14.This program provides one-time grants of up to $5,000 for recent unexpected medical, dental, and mental health emergencies to artists in financial need who are practicing in the visual arts, film/video/electronic/digital arts, and choreography.

Powderhorn Art Fair: August 6 & 7, 2022
This year's Powderhorn Art Fair will feature over 150 artists representing 20 art mediums.
Exciting new attractions include an opening ceremony, immersive art installations, and a beer garden produced in partnership with Reverie Cafe + Bar and KRSM Radio.
