Happy Inauguration Day!
There is much to be thankful for with the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. On the immigration front, President Biden’s signature of multiple Executive Orders reversing anti-immigrant actions of the last administration, and his commitment to a sweeping immigration bill that would secure the promise of permanent immigration status to millions, proves that this Administration is focusing energy and political capital to ensure that we are again a nation that welcomes and embraces immigrants, refugees and New Americans.
Much work is needed to protect the human rights that belong to all of us. It will take a commitment to working together to implement the important changes that we know are not only possible, but necessary.
The City of Minneapolis Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs will continue to keep our residents informed about immigration developments and opportunities under this new Administration. As part of the City’s commitment to assist our new President and Vice President in advancing promising initiatives that will strengthen our immigrant, refugee and New American communities, we look forward to helping our residents take advantage of opportunities offered and needed to heal and gain renewed strength to meet and overcome the challenges ahead.
