Dear Neighbor,
Last night was seemingly quieter than previous nights, but there were constant reports of suspicious behavior afoot across our city. I urge you to keep looking for and being the helpers in this moment. It is inspiring to see my community step up in this moment to support one another.
We remain in the “Unified Command Structure” of law enforcement efforts, to restore order in our city and make space for the next conversation and healing needed in response to George Floyd’s death. It is urgent that I share anything I know that would be helpful in this moment, and to answer what I can. I don’t know what that will be by 5pm.
Craig and Patricia Neal, of Center for Purposeful Leadership, have again generously offered their meeting facilitation and convening skills for us to have this safe gathering space.
Similar to the past two day calls, here is what you can expect: I will do a quick update on what we know happened last night, provide any updates I have by then about what to expect tonight, and use the remaining time on participant questions. These questions sometimes are about immediate needs, and some head into the future conversations we need to have about public safety and structural reforms of undoing racism in every part of our government. I am eager for those conversations and it helps me to hear your ideas, through the chat or otherwise. The moderators will help there to be balance in this hour based on what the participants want to know and are asking in this moment.
