Dear Neighbor,
Like many of you I have spent this past week taking advantage of the sunshine filled evenings with my family. This has meant frequent walks, a couple bike rides and, most recently, a birthday scavenger hunt that I put together for my eldest son. I have to say I’m quite proud of that one.
During these adventures I am constantly impressed with how well I have seen folks adhere to social distancing guidelines, while still finding fun and creative ways to socialize. I’ve seen appropriately distanced, outdoor Pilates classes, back and forth sidewalk chalk messages, and what appeared to be one neighbor reading aloud to the children next door from across the yard. These have all been welcome reminders at how connected Minneapolis is and works to remain, even during a challenging period.
As I continue my work at City Hall (remotely) and tackle the challenges we are facing due to COVID-19, I am grateful to have such wonderful neighbors and for the energy of our community.
Warmest summer regards,
|
