City of Lakes

Dear Neighbor,

I hope this finds you well and at home. I have now fully transitioned to working from home, and with much less person-to-person interactions, I have been working through phone meetings scheduled with constituents and also working to be communicative through social media more often.  In the coming weeks we will find newer ways to connect and do community engagement on city endeavors.

First and foremost I am hearing from healthcare professionals that are your neighbors, and are in desperate need of supplies to interact with sick patients, please see that article below and reach out if you can assist with fabrication of or have some of these things they need.

Secondly, we’ve been fielding a lot of questions about what Stay At Home means and what is still open from tonight through April 10th,  with schools closed until May 4th, at the least. I added a section below that answers all the questions we have received so far and has a link to a very comprehensive list of what is and what is not open under the Governor’s order.

Please get outside to exercise and enjoy weather as we’ve been working on expanding the areas for activity and local recreation. We will work to keep you updated as more areas open up, with details below.

It is so important to keep at least 6 feet between yourself and others, and to limit your interactions with other people as much as possible.  That said, to address the most frequent questions we get:

  1. Lake Harriet and some of the other parkway areas (see article below) will be restricted from vehicles so that people can be outside and maintain safe distancing.
  2. Your favorite local restaurants are in serious need of customers for take-out orders if you can- look them up online and order before you go to assist social distancing.
  3. Liquor stores are NOT closing, though some have more limited hours.
  4. Building and construction- roadways, commercial and residential- will still be happening and is allowed to continue per the Governor’s order.

Be safe and well. Keep in touch!

Regards,

Linea
