When: Friday, Nov. 1st from 12 pm to 1:30 pm
Where: Butter Bakery Café, 3700 Nicollet Ave
Join us for a discussion with City Staff and community leaders about the City’s involvement with the 2020 Census in partnership with local artists, share the work of the City’s Office of Immigrant and Refugees Affairs (OIRA), as well as hear about some broader organizing happening with immigration justice in Minneapolis.
We will be joined the City’s Complete Count Coordinator Alberder Gillespie, the Director of Immigrant Refugee Affairs Michelle Rivero, Julia Nekessa Opoti the Co-founder of the Black Immigrant Collective, and the City’s Creative City Making partners on the Census 2020 initiative, Rox Anderson and Anna Meyers.
Through this discussion we hope to address the importance of community led engagement with the 2020 Census, provide residents with accurate info about the Census so that residents feel supported as we undergo our efforts to get a complete and accurate count, and explore the intersections between immigration related issues in Minneapolis and the 2020 Census.
We hope you will join us for this important discussion on November 1st!
You can sign up to receive updates from the Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs and to receive updates about the 2020 Census.
