ENERGY STAR Certification updates

In August 2018, the EPA updated its ENERGY STAR Scores to match a more energy efficient statistical median building performance. In other words, most scores decreased to reflect the average building becoming more efficient in recent years.

As part of the process of updating scores, the EPA is finalizing the review process for achieving ENERGY STAR Certifications in models (building types). The table below provides the schedule for reinstating certification for the first four models.

The schedule for the office and retail models are forthcoming, and will hopefully be reinstated this summer.

As certifications are reinstated on a rolling basis, applications deadlines for certification will be available for 2018 and 2019 through year-end to add flexibility due to the updates.
