Neighborhood and community leaders and residents,
The comment period for the draft The Neighborhoods 2020 Framework Recommendations is now closed. I want to take this opportunity to thank the hundreds of residents, community leaders and neighborhood organization board members and staff for their time and dedication to reviewing, discussing and commenting on the document. NCR staff attended a total of 40 community and board meetings, reaching over 1,000 people during the comment period, and I know that there were many other conversations among community groups as well. Your insight is invaluable, and your contribution will make the next iteration of neighborhood programming the best yet.
For this next phase, NCR has assembled a multi-faceted team that will review public comments and compile the themes within them. The team has representation from the City’s division of race and equity, philanthropy, neighborhood and community representatives and NCR staff. The team’s summary, along with the original comments, will be released in late April.
We remain on track to discuss the Framework and public comments at the City Council’s Public Health, Environment, Civil Rights and Engagement (PECE) Committee on Monday, May 6. This meeting will be a public hearing. I anticipate any changes to the framework to be available by the end of April.
NCR is committed to keeping you informed as Neighborhoods 2020 progresses over the next couple of months. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your neighborhood specialist or me.
Again, thank you all for your time and dedication to this work. Your passion for Minneapolis neighborhoods and for making our city better is strongly appreciated.
