Community conversations with the Mayor and City Council members about Racial Equity

Facilitated by Mayor Jacob Frey, the Community Connections Conference closing session will bring conference attendees and City Council members together for round table discussions about the City’s Strategic and Racial Equity Action Plan (SREAP).

This action plan is used to communicate City priorities around workforce, spending, data usage, community engagement and policy. The SREAP is a central document that policymakers can refer to, with clear goals, objectives and metrics by which to measure progress. Download SREAP goals...


Exhibitor Highlight: Transportation Action Plan and Vision Zero

Stop by the City of Minneapolis Department of Public Works exhibit for a discussion on the Minneapolis Transportation Action Plan (TAP), a ten-year action plan to guide future planning, design, and implementation of transportation projects. Workshop Highlight: Northeast BrainFest

Join Audubon Neighborhood Association for their morning workshop, Northeast BrainFest: Collaborative Planning and Cooperative Implementation.

"Mental health issues are severely stigmatized in our society, often left unaddressed, impacting both individuals and neighborhoods. Audubon Neighborhood Association is drawing greater attention to mental health issues among Northeast Minneapolis residents and working to reduce the stigma attached to mental illness through a collaborative, multi-neighborhood effort entitled Northeast BrainFest. Attend this workshop to learn more." Read more workshop descriptions here...


Program Overview & Updates

NCR is excited to announce that the Community Connections Conference will feature:

  • An opening discussion, Connecting Activism to Change.
  • An exhibit hall with over 100 exhibitors from a wide variety of organizations, from healthcare and tenants' rights organizations to sustainability and public schools.
  • Interactive workshops.
  • An opportunity to learn about and apply for City appointed boards and commissions.
  • A legal clinic on immigration, family and housing law courtesy of the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota, Volunteer Lawyers Network, Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid and The Advocates for Human Rights.
  • A community round table with City leaders and Council members about the City of Minneapolis’s racial equity action plan.
  • Free food.

Registration

RSVP for the workshops, opening panel and lunch, and sign up to volunteer, and request accommodations, interpreters if needed before January 25 at 4:00 p.m.

Food Vendors

As in past years, attendees can choose between five food vendors at the conference. This year’s vendors are: La Mexicana, Mama D's Kitchen, Afro Deli, Wendy's House of Soul and Pow Wow Grounds.
