With the complete rehabilitation of 3210 Morgan Ave N and 3234 Humboldt Ave N, Jenny Kuria has rehabbed and sold her fifth Minneapolis Homes REHAB project and has completed her first new construction home that uses City of Minneapolis project financing. The Minneapolis Homes REHAB program helps build vibrant neighborhoods by acquiring vacant and boarded 1-4 unit residential properties, preparing them for sale, and then competitively marketing the properties to responsible developers for rehabilitation, with a preference for creating homeownership opportunities.
Founder and CEO of Jenny Investments LLC and Amani Construction & Renovations LLC, Jenny has renovated over 50 home projects throughout the Twin Cities during the past decade. Born in Kenya, Jenny came with her daughter and son to Minnesota over 15 years ago to make a new life for her family.
Minneapolis Homes looks to expand the number of developers participating in single family development programs. Most recently, City staff held a training for developers interested in the Minneapolis Homes Development Assistance Request for Proposals that provides financing for new construction on city-owned vacant lots. Fifty-six people attended and a majority were developers that have not historically participated in City programs. In addition, Minneapolis Homes is connecting developers just starting out to the City's Developer Technical Assistance Program (D-TAP).

With a mini computer right in our pocket, you can take a self-guided tour of over 300 individual pieces of public art in Minneapolis. Visit arcg.is/mplsart to explore the many art works across Minneapolis via bike, feet or car.
Six new public art works are being installed this fall, and each has its own unique story. For example, Nimbus created by artist Tristan Al-Haddad, is being fabricated in Atlanta by a diverse team of welders, including several AWS Certified Welders from Dunwoody College of Technology who have been commuting there. The Big Book, by Christopheraaron Deanes, is being installed at Nellie Stone Johnson Community School and includes a story on bullying that was created in collaboration with 5th grade students, many of who are now attending Franklin Middle School.

Nimbus, by artist Tristan Al-Haddad, will be installed this month on Nicollet Mall, wrapping up a five-year effort to plan, remove, reinstall and commission new works of art for the Mall. Nimbus will be located in front of Minneapolis Central Library and cantilevered over the Theater in the Round seating area. The sculpture is constructed in a similar manner to an airplane wing and will be one of the city’s largest individual artworks. It has involved a complex and demanding engineering and fabrication process, which consists of assembling and welding over 800 unique pieces of laser cut metal. The installation will begin in the parking lot across the street from the library where seven large sections will be welded together and then lifted by a crane into place.
Dramatic both during the day and in the evening, the sculpture will flood the site at night with a halo of light that will feature five different lighting programs. Visit the Nicollet Mall Public Art Blog to learn more about Nimbus, as well as the other works on the Mall.
