Add your voice! Minneapolis Parks Community Garden Policy Comment Period Open Through April 9th
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is seeking community input on its draft Community Garden Policy, developed with input from the Urban Agriculture Activity Plan Implementation Team, community members, and MPRB staff. The draft outlines rules, requirements and processes for community gardening at neighborhood parks in Minneapolis. Local Public Health Hero Awards
In celebration of National Public Health Week, the Minneapolis Health Department would like to recognize the accomplishments of community partners who help raise awareness of the critical roles that public health and prevention play in making Minneapolis a healthier place to live, learn, work, and play. Nominate an individual, team or organization by 5:00 pm on March 19th. Local Hero Award winners will receive their awards at the Local Public Health Heroes Award Ceremony to be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 11:30 am in the City Hall Rotunda.

Compost Available for Community Gardens in Minneapolis
The City of Minneapolis provides community gardens in Minneapolis with low or no-cost compost. Qualifying community gardens may request one delivery of up to 10 cubic yards of compost. The amount of compost and the number of compost deliveries are limited, and not guaranteed. Compost and compost deliveries are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. Community gardens that have never received compost, have poor soil quality, or are start-up gardens will get priority. Spring/Summer compost deliveries begin May 1 and end September 29. Spring compost requests must be submitted by April 20. 2018 Request Form for Spring/Summer Compost.

AGRI Good Food Access Program (GFAP) Technical Assistance Grants The Good Food Access Program (GFAP) assists technical assistance
providers in working with new or existing for-profit, not-for-profit, and

assistance to increase the availability of and access to affordable, nutritious,
and culturally-appropriate food for underserved communities - Apply by March 14th
AGRI Good Food Access Program (GFAP) Equipment and Physical Improvement Grants The Good Food Access Program (GFAP) supports grocery stores and small food retailers in increasing the availability of and access to affordable, nutritious, and culturally-appropriate food for underserved communities.
AGRI Urban Agriculture Grants Supports and encourages urban youth agricultural education and urban
agriculture community development.
AGRI Farm to Early Care and Education Grants Supports early care and
education (ECE) organizations by supporting the equipment purchases and the
creation of plans that will result in increased use of Minnesota grown and
raised foods in nutrition programs.
AGRI Farm to School Grants Supports school districts by supporting the equipment purchases and the
creation of plans that will result in increased use of Minnesota grown and
raised foods in nutrition programs.
AGRI Sustainable Agriculture Demonstration Grants Supports innovative on-farm research and demonstrations. Projects must
explore sustainable agricultural practices and systems, and findings are
published in the Minnesota Department of Agriculture's annual Greenbook publication.
AGRI Value Added Grants Supports the cost of
equipment or physical improvements that will add value to and increase sales of
agricultural produce grown in the state.
