Council Member's Message

There's yet more good sustainability news to share, so I hope you'll check out the information below about the City's green cost-sharing program, which now includes the option of solar for businesses. Our local schools are also doing an outstanding job of embedding sustainability education into their curricula, with the assistance of organizations like Spark-Y and the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization.

On another topic, the City of Minneapolis has over 50 volunteer-based advisory groups, boards and commissions that offer citizens the opportunity to help drive public policy and initiatives. We are always seeking people from diverse backgrounds and experiences to lend their talents in public service and at any one time over 500 people belong to these groups. Right now we are seeking members for a new advisory function on the Racial Equity Community Advisory Committee. See below for specific information about this committee and how to apply or visit http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/boards/openings/index.htm to learn about openings and opportunities on other committees.

Lastly, time is short to get in on the Minneapolis Tree Lottery. This popular program helps sustain our urban forest while providing beauty to our community. Check out the information below to your name in by March 9 if you are interested in a low-cost tree for your property.
