45th Anniversary Pairing of Hale & Field Schools Celebration Tonight!

faf

In September 1971, Hale and Field Community Schools were paired by the Minneapolis Public School District to provide a demonstration project in quality integrated education. The success of the pairing can be attributed to the activism of community leaders, parents and school staff who believed in desegregating our schools and neighborhood.

A community celebration is being held tonight, November 9, 6-8 pm at Field Community School, 4645 4th Ave S, to recognize these leaders and celebrate the 45th Anniversary of the school’s landmark pairing.

This memorable event will feature video interviews with the community leaders who spearheaded the pairing, a panel discussion about past and present barriers to equitable education, guest speakers who helped get the Hale-Field partnership started, and choir and jazz music by past and current Hale and Field students. This event would not be possible without donations and the support of volunteers.

Get engaged with Minneapolis 2040 – share your thoughts on City planning!

gfagea

Over the past year, City planners have been doing a lot of listening about the future of Minneapolis. One resounding theme is that everyone must benefit from a growing city. Done right, population growth can help the city become a healthy, sustainable, and thriving place for all.

Minneapolis 2040 is an update to the City’s Comprehensive Plan, a document that shapes how Minneapolis will grow and change. The plan will cover topics such as housing, job creation, the design of new buildings, and how we use our streets.  City planners would like to hear your thoughts.
