Lunch with Elizabeth: Community Ownership and Building Community Wealth

ca

Friday, August 26, Noon-1:00 pm
Butter Bakery Cafe, 3700 Nicollet

Join us for conversation about community ownership models and building community wealth in the context of gentrification concerns for our neighborhoods and the racial inequity of our land and business ownership systems.

We are pleased to welcome Neeraj Mehta, Director of Community Programs for the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs (CURA) at the University of Minnesota.  Neeraj has been leading a research project on gentrification in the Twin Cities and also work on the concept of the “shrinking city.”

We also welcome Daniel Bonilla, Senior Project Manager in Business Development for the City of Minneapolis.  Daniel will report on work he has spearheaded at the City to develop training courses for residents in forming and growing cooperatives as well as training for residents interested in small development projects.

We hope to see you on Friday August 26th, at Butter, for a great conversation about community ownership!
