“With how much I've grown in State government, I can see myself staying here until retirement!”

Meet Theressa, a dedicated mom of two with over nine years of experience working for the State of Missouri. During her second pregnancy, she experienced firsthand the exceptional support the State provides to working parents, from flexible scheduling to comprehensive insurance benefits. Theressa appreciated the understanding and support from her supervisors and team, who recognized the demands of pregnancy and allowed her the flexibility needed for medical appointments. This allowed her to prioritize both her well-being and her work. Preparing for the arrival of her baby was made easier when her insurance covered the cost of a breast pump, removing a significant expense from her list. After her baby was born, Theressa was grateful for the six weeks of parental leave provided by the State. This time was invaluable for healing, recovery, and bonding with her newborn. The support Theressa received before, during, and after her baby’s arrival allowed her to excel both as a mother and as a dedicated state employee.
