September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and World Suicide Prevention Day is recognized each year on September 10.
Resources are available to OA team members including some simple strategies to help you stay on top of your mental health.
The Strive Employee Life & Family program, also known as SELF, is available to all benefit eligible OA team members at no cost to you. The SELF program is offered through ComPsych, and offers behavioral health counseling services to help with everyday issues such as stress, relationships, parenting, grief and loss and substance use. Trained staff will listen to your concerns and refer you to a local counselor for in-person help.
Each team member can get up to 10 counseling sessions per problem, per year, per person, with no limit on the number of problems.

Having a healthy work-life balance is often one of the most important things that you can do to keep your mental health in check. With the annual leave sweep rapidly approaching, now is the perfect time to take a moment for yourself!
On October 31, annual leave above the maximum is lapsed. If you are currently over or nearing the annual leave maximum, work with your supervisor to plan some time away.
Consider using any extra time you have stored up to spend the day with loved ones, engage in a hobby, or to rest and relax. All are great examples of activities that enhance your mental health.
Additionally, take advantage of the cooler weather and get outside! Exposure to natural environments has been shown to significantly boost mental health. Whether restorative or preventative, now is the perfect time to take advantage of one of Missouri’s conservation-managed outdoor areas.
