Today marks 100
days since Director of Agriculture Chris Chinn was confirmed by the Senate. Her
first 100 days have been spent in 'listening mode,' learning more about the most
efficient and meaningful ways to protect and promote Missouri agriculture.
Director Chinn has continued her efforts to bridge the gap between urban and
rural Missourians, she’s been in the thick of trade discussions, shared
impactful insight with future agriculture leaders, and gained valuable input
from Missouri’s resilient and generous farmers and ranchers. If the first 100
days are any indication, the future of Missouri agriculture is in incredibly
capable hands!
Next week,
Director Chinn will seamlessly transition into ‘doing mode’ when she announces
her vision for the Missouri Department of Agriculture under her leadership.
Stay tuned!
Fighting for Missouri Agriculture Nationwide
Director Chinn welcomed U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue to Kansas City on April 28, 2017, just days after his Senate confirmation. In his first post-confirmation appearance outside of Washington, D.C., Perdue visited the USDA Service Center in Kansas City, and spoke at an ag town hall at the American Royal Complex hosted by the Agricultural
Business Council of Kansas City.
In just more than a week, Director Chinn met with U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue and EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt to highlight the importance of Missouri agriculture.
Protecting Missouri's Farmers
Director Chinn and Governor Eric Greitens traveled to Southeast Missouri on March 31, 2017, to hold a ceremonial signing of House Bill 662, which increased penalties for the off label use of herbicides.
Bridging the Gap between Urban & Rural Missouri
Director Chinn helped kick off Beef Month in
Missouri at an event hosted by the Missouri Beef
Industry Council at the Saint Louis
Science Center's GROW Exhibit on May 4, 2017. She presented an official
proclamation on behalf of Governor Eric Greitens, and highlighted the
importance of Missouri's beef industry to hundreds of area elementary students.
Director Chinn addressed the 89th Missouri FFA Convention on April 20, 2017, encouraging and inspiring those in the audience to make a difference. "You don't have to have
a title to be a leader," Director Chinn said. "Lead from where
you are right now."
