Show Me Healthy Kids (SMHK) is now providing comprehensive home health nursing assessments to youth (ages 0-21) who are in the custody of the Children’s Division (CD) and who have been diagnosed with diabetes.
SMHK will be reaching out to CD case managers with qualifying youth and then connecting with the youth to assess needs and identify additional support.
Here Now Health provides free, virtual mental health services for child welfare-connected youth and families across Missouri! They are able to connect youth and families to care within 24 hours, with appointments available during the day, evenings, and weekends. Services include Trauma-informed therapies, faith-based counseling, specialized experience supporting youth with problematic sexual behaviors, etc. Please visit Here Now Health for more information!
Missouri SUN Bucks provides a one‑time $120 benefit per eligible child to help families buy food during June, July, and August. Benefits are issued on an EBT card and can be used at SNAP‑authorized retailers. Participation does not affect immigration status, and children may still use other summer meal programs.
Most eligible children ages 7–17 will be automatically enrolled if they already receive SNAP, Temporary Assistance, Medicaid (within income limits), or free/reduced‑price school meals. Families not automatically enrolled can apply through the Eligibility Navigator or by submitting the MOSB‑1 application online, by fax, or by mail.
Applications are open through August 31, 2026. For help, contact the Family Support Division at 1‑855‑373‑4636 or visit the DSS SUN Bucks webpage.

For children living with asthma, symptoms can come and go much like waves. That's why Show Me Healthy Kids (SMHK) offers the Asthma Waves Program, designed to help children, foster parents, and caregivers better understand asthma, identify triggers, and take steps to keep symptoms under control. Asthma is a chronic condition that causes the airways in the lungs to tighten and swell, making it harder to breathe, with common signs of a flare-up including coughing, chest tightness, wheezing, or trouble breathing.
Through the Asthma Waves Program, SMHK Care Managers provide education, support, and care coordination to help children effectively manage their asthma. When asthma is well controlled, children are more likely to sleep better, attend school regularly, participate in sports and other physical activities, and avoid unnecessary emergency room visits or hospital stays.
The Asthma Waves Program can help families:
- Understand and manage asthma symptoms, triggers, and medications
- Build skills and healthy habits to keep asthma under control
- Connect with healthcare services, care coordination, and community resources
In addition to education and care management support, eligible members may receive asthma-related supplies to help create a healthier home environment and better manage their condition. These items may include hypoallergenic pillow covers, hypoallergenic mattress covers, peak flow meters, and other asthma management resources based on individual needs.
Members enrolled in the program may also have opportunities to earn rewards through the My Health Pays® program by completing eligible healthy activities and preventive care services.
If a child in your care has asthma, Show Me Healthy Kids is here to help. For questions about the Asthma Waves Program, care management services, or other available resources, please contact Show Me Healthy Kids Care Management at 1-855-694-4663 (TTY: 711).
For questions regarding prescription coverage, the MO HealthNet Pharmacy Program oversees reimbursement for outpatient fee-for-service prescription drugs and devices and can be reached through the Pharmacy Administration Unit at (573) 751-6363 or by email at MHD.PharmacyAdmin@dss.mo.gov.
