Missouri Department of Social Services Announces Mandi Adams as Director of Family Support Division
JEFFERSON CITY, MO - The Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS) today announced the appointment of Mandi Adams as Director of the DSS Family Support Division (FSD), effective immediately.
Adams has served as Interim Director of FSD since March 2025, providing steady leadership and guiding the division through a period of transition. With nearly 24 years of experience in various roles at FSD, serving as Deputy Director of Field Operations before Interim Director, she brings a strong background in the operations of Missouri’s public assistance programs and a proven commitment to serving Missouri families.
“Mandi has demonstrated strong leadership during her time as Interim Director,” said Jessica Bax, DSS Director. “Her deep knowledge of FSD’s programs, along with her dedication to transparency and innovation, make her the right choice to lead the division forward.”
The Family Support Division administers programs that provide critical support to Missouri families, including Missouri Medicaid (MO HealthNet), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance, Child Support, and Blind Services. With more than 2,400 team members statewide, FSD serves hundreds of thousands of Missourians each year.

Under Mandi's interim leadership, the FSD team has made significant strides in improving operations and customer experience. Through streamlining the SNAP interview process, the division has reduced phone time, increased worker capacity, and improved interview accuracy and speed. Additionally, enhanced collaboration with MO HealthNet and a strengthened legislative and constituent services unit have improved customer service for providers and citizens.
Mandi Adams assumes leadership of FSD following her service as Interim Director and previous roles in field operations, systems, and policy.
