Joanna Liesman: A Little Help Goes a Long Way

Joanna Liesman is a single parent of two boys ages 11 and 12, when she was referred to the MERS Goodwill Missouri Work Assistance (MWA) program on May 26, 2022.  Joanna obtained employment at Red Wing Shoe Co but needed help with transportation due to the 72-mile round trip to and from work and the lack of funds.

Joanna completed enrollment in the MWA program and was referred to financial coaching, which led her to receive assistance with her rent and transportation costs. However, her vehicle had a recall, so no funds were needed for transportation.

With all this assistance, Joanna was able to retain her job and said the MWA program was a blessing for her as she didn’t believe she could keep her job.
