SkillUP Success Stories
Kevin Sago
Kevin Sego was unemployed and “things were pretty rough” for him and his two daughters before hearing about the SkillUp program. A friend told Kevin about the program, so he inquired about attending truck driving school at Delta Area Economic Development Corporation.
On October 17, 2022, Kevin started the Truck Driving program and through hard work and determination, Kevin successfully obtained his CDL license. He is currently employed at Potashnick Transportation INC, making a good wage to provide for his family. Kevin says with a smile on his face, “I am able to provide for my children and myself!”
The SkillUP program paid for Kevin’s tuition and provided mileage reimbursement, which made it possible for him to pursue a career in Truck Driving. Kevin credits his SkillUp case manager who encouraged him to stick with the program, no matter how difficult it was.
Since going through the SkillUp program, Kevin’s friends and family are proud of him, have seen a difference in his demeanor, and continue to encourage Kevin.
