Welder working

Jon Cook: Motivated

Before SkillUP Jon Cook felt lost and was unsure what he wanted to do with his life.  In June of 2022, Jon started with the Delta Area Economic Development Corporation (DAEOC).  Jon decided to take the welding class at the Missouri Welding Institute to develop a skill.

SkillUP paid for the tuition and supportive services for Jon’s education, providing him with the experience and training necessary to pass the welding classes in order to get certified. Jon said “Because of SkillUP I am motivated to do more.”

Through hard work Jon graduated on October 27, 2022 from the welding program with 4 different welding certificates! He took a job with Mag-7 earning a higher wage than he had before and has benefits such as health insurance.

Now that he is making a good income Jon will be able to buy a car and help his grandparents when needed.
